Systems of milk production in Argentina are the mad dash: to stay in business must increase its production a +2% each year just to cover the increased costs. This increase in production is achieving with increments of load. The widespread problem is that this increase in the number of cows is not matched properly with updates of structure (water beverage, facilities, and labor) demanding more and more to the entire system, especially the staff who must deal with a greater number of hours of milking, births, treatments, etc A sensitive area and that serves as an example of this is the increase in the mortality of cows that went from 5-6% to 8-9% current. We know that 68% of the mortality occurs around the time of birth (see page 31 KEYS TAMBO). In the graph below we have grouped the annual averages of the physical analysis of historical of the drums CREATES* observing how it has been increasing the % of deaths as work progressed on the increase of cows per dairy farm:
Obviously the availability of heifers replacement with respect to the cows totals are kept fixed by constraining the level of rejections.
