Even when the imports of milk powder (our main exported product) have fallen a -35% in 2016 relative to 2014, chinese purchases after falling in 2015, were recovered and in 2016 marked a record with +18.1 per cent on 2014. In the chart that accompanies this note we observe the evolution of its product portfolio. The dairy that grew the most have been the fluid milk (+91%), infant formula (+83%), cheese (+47%) and whey powder (+23%). But the greatest volume provide have been fluid milk and whey powder.
The quality of the whey protein powder cooperates effectively with the rapid development of China's economy and the increased requirement of nutritious food for the population, especially for infant formulas. With the acceptance by the consumer of the addition of whey protein in sports drinks, infant formula and other foods, the product is leading imports from the asian giant.
Projecting the trend set in the first 7 months of 2017, we saw a steady growth of demand from the asian giant.
