
We analyze the evolution of milk production in Argentina in the year 2024 published by the MINAGRI with data SIGLeA. The fall of production observed in the period January to July 2024 it is considered to be a residual of the poor nutrition of dairy cattle during 2023, the year in which dairy farmers did juggling to give food to the missing historical bookings forage generated by the drought 2022-2023. In 2023 the production was just -2% lower than that of the 2022 thanks to a comfortable environment for finance (absence of mud, insects, etc)
In 2024, these conditions changed significantly by excessive rains (march-April), when combined with late deliveries and body states lower with productions 2-3 lt/VO/d below last year. This started to recover as of may 2024. The accumulated in the first 7 months of 2024, marking a fall of 11.8% and a shortage of milk average of 3.5 million litres/day. The solid useful (%GB+%P of the milk) is maintained at a similar level (2024: 7,21% of ITS vs 2023: 7,19%HIS). Following this trend is likely to 2024 is finished with a litraje -7 to -8% lower than that of 2023. There is a reduction in the number of cows and heifers to dairy-post (estimated between 70,000 to 100,000 head less).
In the following chart we can see the situation for the most important provinces where vertically is observed in the % loss in production and horizontally perspective the volume contributed by each province:

The major drainage basins of CordobaVilla Maria (50% of the volume provincial), the Northeast (21%), South (21%) and Central (8%) . Córdoba has accumulated a loss of -14.3% in its production versus 2023.


In Santa Fe the basin Centre of higher contribution to the provincial production (86%) and the basin South with 14% of the volume of the province. In total for the period jan-jul 2024 Santa Fe has accumulated a loss of -14.8% in its production versus 2023.


In Buenos Aires we have the West basin (62% of the volume provincial), Supply South (16%), Sea and Mountains (12%), and Supply North (10%). In total, the province collects a production loss of -5.5% over the milk-2023 for the same period.
