The winter 2022 comes pierced to the milk producers. The most significant cost that is the activity is the power which represents the 55-60% of the total operating costs. This cost is measured in litres of milk worn by cow's milk is useful to compare with previous situations. In the following graph we observe that the current cost an average of 5,200 cows, a total of 14.9 lt/VO/d, was +17% higher than last yearcomplicating seriously 18 liters-free foods that we propose as a goal of annual average. This represents an additional cost of +2,15 lt/VO/d with respect to the situation of 2021. This is exacerbated by the present this year, a lower volume produced, although with higher solid content. But as in all cases, the payment is per litre of milk, solids useful (% GB + %P of milk) not traccionan the price.

There are several factors that explain this increase of the cost. On the one hand both the grain of corn and soy grown +66% and +62% year over year, respectively, while the milk increased by only +53%. On the other hand, the summer drought reduced the yield of maize for silage making by increasing the relative cost, and also affected the amount of grain in the silage, which requires added sources of starch in the diets thing that the past year has not happened. In 2021, the silage of corn had values of starch between 32% and 38%, while that in 2022 values between 22% to 26%. This also represents an increase of costs. Finally the missing piece of grass caused by the winter drought requires higher consumption of silajes and other reserves forage increasing in equal measure the costs of production. Recall that the silage maize is +15-20% more expensive than the grass.
Buying capacity of the milk against the grain of corn: in the following graph we observe the frequency of occurrence of cases for each value of kg of corn affordable with a liter of milk. The average of the series is 2 kg of corn/liter, 80% of the cases was located between 1.5 and 2.5 kg of corn, and the current value (as of June 2022 by having price of milk SIGLeA) is 1.56 kg (red dot) is located in a lower limit of 80% of cases achieving a capacity purchase -22% lower than the historical average. We estimate that there will be to live with this situation for a while.
