The primary production of milk in Argentina is undergoing a process of transformation.., again.
In the decade of the 70's there was widespread among dairy farms local milking mechanic, a first disruptive change that significantly reduced the number of tanks, beginning a process of concentration that still continues today. At that time, the dairy farms had a limited number of cows for the milking was done by hand. When you begin to get the first machines of milk in the beginning there was resistance from producers to accept the technology of automation of the milking, and was considered a costly investment, and there was suspicion by the health of the udder. But after over 50 years of jelqing manual, was passed to a milking mechanical (we recommend to read the note "50 years of dairy industry in Argentina«)
Today, 50 years later, the producers are faced with a new technological change and watch with amazement the offer, which brings the new technology of the era of digitization, the dairy precision Industry 4,0. In these last 50 years, the drums were growing in number of cows, forcing you to treat them by group and not individually as when they had their name, is milking in stocks to the couple and they were fed in feeders with "string" where each ate according to your need. With today's technology we treat the individual cow, but on another level...a level unthinkable.

In Argentina, the drum-major, nearly 1,000, are kept in number but increased heavily in production, and as we see in the following graph, with the evolution in the last 15 years, representing 10% of the drums but contributed to 41% of the total production in argentina.
Between these big producers we saw strong investments to meet the animal welfare with the construction of shedsthe control of the slurry and the precision management of each cow (with high impact on the health and productivity of the animal) in a scenario of rodeos growing on the drums. Apart from bringing the systems of production to another level, it is a trend that is beginning to change the paradigm with a commercial high milk supply with best quality by point of collection. The gap is growing.

Apart from what is widely known as the retiradores of teat cups and washers, automatic equipment of cold, between the technology available to the producer that we mentioned, we find electronic identification, necklaces monitoring (activity, rumination, eating, etc.), locators, GPS and antennas, doors apartadoras smart, measurement of the daily production per cow, supplementation controlled individual, management software, rodeo interacting with the collection of data from sensors, and computers milking robotic volunteer apart from milk (replacing the task less preferred for the workers and increasingly more difficult to recruit) include all of the technology mentioned maximizing the freedom of the cow to express their full potential.
