The export wave

With the unusual volume of milk that brought this lush spring 2025, all of the dairy sector are anxiously looking at the information on the export with the hope of being able to absorb the excesses that bring some peace to the troubled domestic market. Between the anxious there are two unknowns: what is the capacity of processing and exporting milk we have? and is the industry doing their best with their foreign sales?

Looking at the exporter history of Argentina see in the chart that follows, that we have had peaks of exports, as in November 2020 and January 2021 for example, nearly 300 million of equivalent litres in a month. In August of 2025 were 255 mill equiv lts and in September would be growing by +10% closer to the 300 mill cited. Possibly the ability of 2020 to date, has expanded.

It is interesting to note that during the peak November 2020 exporting higher proportion of milk powder that today (August 2025), but now the profile includes cheeses with which the installed capacity using this profile to limit a bit the total exported volume:

According to MINAGRI exporting +6% more milk in the period Jan-Aug 2025 versus same period in 2024 and shipments of milk powder (48% to Brazil, and 42% to Algeria) and Mozzarella (collects one-half the volume of cheeses exported to 56% in Brazil and 13% in Chile). Adding the data from Customs to September 2025 would happen to +7%, and all companies with marked increases in shipments abroad:

The abundance of milk well managed it is a lever to grow.
