The proportion of dairy farms with milking robotic volunteer (we will use VBOS in this note, equivalent to the AMS of the English) in the world is growing strongly in the last 2 years. In 2020, it is estimated a global sale of 50,000 robots covering some 3 million cows milked under this system. The leading brands in VBOS are Of Laval, GEA, and LELY (see previous note of Robotization (I)).

The biggest contribution of the ORV is focused on three aspects of the activity of milk production as are the workmanship, cows and the power. It is important to clarify that the robot involves a whole package of technology in the service of the tambero that goes beyond the milk itself, as is the collar of monitoring and electronic identification, the measurement of milk, the door apartadora, software, artificial intelligence, fires alerts, and generate reports, etc

Labor

The reduction of staff jelqing is the primary cause of the installation of robots in the world. On all sides it is increasingly difficult to engage qualified personnel in the dairy production. In Argentina, the same thing happens, every change of tambero is a drama, and it is usual to see a high turnover of assistants to pit. On average you migrate from a conventional system to one of ORV, according to CORNELL, results in a decrease of -40% in the hours of work in the dairy farm. This reduction in the demand for labour allows you to reassign the jobs and spend more time monitoring and analysis of the data generated by the system. Spend a tambero mediero to pay, a very well-paid, but pay, allows a significant reduction in the cost of the labor of milking (for example lower incidence of 8% of the check to the 3% would mean a saving of -50% in staff of milk)...and these personnel changes no longer affect the production of cows! A work of the Journal of Dairy Science point to an average saving of all personnel involved in the production ("the pit and extra pit"), 107 drum-european robotic, of the order of -20 % for staff costs total affected the production of the tambo...it all depends on from where part.

 The cow

The ORV allows you to reliably ensure the 5 freedoms of the cow (free from hunger and thirst, discomfort, physical and thermal, pain, injury and disease, free from fear and stress and able to act freely according to their nature). Apart from this, it is collected hundreds of real-time data on each cow and deviations outside of the "normal individual" alert for your review (with a sensitivity >95%, 1 to 3 days before that diagnosis human expert), the symptoms of the disease are detected earlier, and treatment is more short and effective. On the other hand, the milk personalized and consistent (at the level of the rooms) it improves the health of the udder reducing somatic cell counts, ensures the discarding of milk and the UFC in minimal expression. Although the frequency of ordeñes is similar to the 3x, in the ORV a cow of 70 lt/VO/d milk 5-6 times, while a 14-lt once. This has a greater impact, obviously, on the individual production when it is passed to a frequency of 2x to VBOS (on average, +14%, about 4 lt/VO/d). The possibility to maximize the productive potential of the rodeo is observed when it is combined with the amenities of a house.

The power

With the technology of the ORV is again trying the cow individually and not for the average of a group of cows. This has a great influence on the main account of expenses of the tambo, which is the power, allowing each cow to eat what you need for your level of production and physiological state. This is achieved by driving the supplementation correctly, what is offered in the mixer and the food that they eat in the robot (which can be 2 or 3 silos different hosting portions of different composition and cost assignable to each cow). The level of efficiency of conversion will happen 1,2 -1,3 lt/kg of dry matter consumed to above 1.5 lt/kg MSC.

In this note we clean concepts that we have been collecting and summarizing. In the next few notes we will discuss details to the technical and economic ORV.
